So Independent…

Good Morning Baby Girl.
We are home now and even in five days you had grown so much. You enjoyed your time with Nonna and Poppy Roo and made dad and I pay for our absense when we returned. Death stares all round. Thank goodness we are back to normal now!

I bought you your own pair of havaianas yesterday because you try to fit into everyone else’s all day every day. You love them even if they are a little big for you at the moment.

You sit up to the breakfast table with us for toast, banana and milk. Your high chair was so last year.

You now refuse to eat weetbix. We aren’t quite sure why because it was your favorite. But we will try again soon.

You are also getting quite good at feeding yourself now. Yoghurt is the most successful (and has the least amount of mess).
And of course you continue to love being outdoors with Poppy and Grandpa John. Always helping out with the maintenance and wanting to do everything yourself – so independent. My little baby is growing up to quickly!

One Month…

Good Morning Baby Girl.

Dad and I are at One & Only – Hayman Island. You are spending time with Nonna and Poppy Roo. We are having a little holiday to celebrate my 30th birthday. Nonna has kept us involved in your movements informing us that you are having a wonderful time and that you have successfully used the potty on several occasions. Very Impressive.

We had my 30th birthday last week and you were the life of the party walking around cuddling all of our family and friends. You definitely aren’t shy.¬†We also had Grandpa Johns 74th birthday party at our house which involved fishing, swimming and pizzas. Very relaxed.

And now we only have one month to go until your baby brother arrives. In the month before you arrived Dad and I were so excited to meet you. This time, with your brother, it almost seems overwhelming. We are excited to meet him, scared and nervous all at once. Have we had enough time with you by yourself, will you be upset when the bub arrives, how will we make sure we still give you all of the attention you need in that first month when so much attention and time will be on the new bub???

You love kids and I am sure you will be the best of friends when little bro is older but I just hope you are ok because you are the most beautiful child a mother could ever wish for. We have so much support so I know that everything will be fine but it is scary wandering into the unknown.

I have spoken to many mothers who had babies close together. They tell me it can be difficult in the first few years but that after that time it is wonderful – with their kids growing up as best friends.

I know all of these feelings are probably unwarranted but I just hope that you will be ok.

Family Vacations…

Good Morning Baby Girl,
I hope that you are happy. I have been a bit slow writing this weeks post so I have a lot to catch up on!

Whilst we were still in San Diego we visited John and Maria Assaraf. You enjoyed the night and loved spending time with John and Maria and especially Maria’s mother who kept calling you Guadita (not sure how to spell) which means Chubby! Lol

The next day we visited the San Diego Zoo. It was a beautiful zoo and we saw the elephants, pandas, a mummy hippo feeding her baby hippo (who had milk all over his face) and teaching him to swim (which a lady had waited several days to see).

After the zoo we went for dinner at Eddie V’s in La Jolla (pronounced Hoya) for dinner and ice cream. We also visited the wild seals on the beach. It was amazing that you could be so close to them! Eddie V’s is a very fancy restaurant and we had the table with the best view!

Next stop was back to LA! We did a bit of shopping the first night at the Beverley Centre and had an early night (you were a bit sick of the late nights). So we took you home and you enjoyed playing with the teddy bear that the lovely people at the Sofitel gave to you.

Dad had to pop into work the following morning so I waited with you in the car so you could rest up. Then we had an amazing lunch at Nobu in Malibu – spectacular views and food to match! You stayed awake for most of the lunch and then had a little sleep.

We then visited the Santa Monica pier and headed back to the Sofitel, Beverley Hills to get changed for dinner at SUR. We were able to walk to the restaurant, via Bel Bambini (beautiful baby shop). We arrived at SUR and it was just like the reality television show “Vanderpump Rules”. Katie was our waitress and she was great!

The next day we did a spot of shopping at Bel Bambini (Dad wouldn’t let me go too crazy). Then we had lunch at Ivy. You had definitely had enough of this eating out lark and so we had a quick lunch then home for a sleep. We popped into the Century 21 shopping centre so Daddy could test drive a Tesla (powerful electric car). Judging from his facial expression I would say we will have one soon!

Then we picked up our bags, dropped the hire car back and checked in for our flight. There was a mix up with our tickets and you nearly didn’t get a bassinet which would have been disastrous! Two kind gentleman offered to swap seats which was lovely. You slept all the way (because we left at night time).

We arrived in Sydney early in the morning but luckily Daddy had booked a room for us at the Westin. You fell asleep while Daddy did some work in the foyer.

We rested and shopped in Sydney while Daddy worked and then we picked him up and headed to the airport.

You slept the whole flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast and after having some cuddles with Nonna and Poppy Roo you slept through the night. You woke up a little early but after some food went straight back to sleep.

We went to the beach with the whole tribe the following day (Stella and Tilly and Aunty A were very happy to see you).

Last week we had coffee with the Mothers at Mother’s group, Susie and we also had some time at home. Daddy was away working for most of the week so we had to send him lots of pics of you. Here are some of your outfits – including your first bow!

Saturday was a special day as Aunty A celebrated 10 years since her last radiation treatment. It was a lovely night and Nonna and Poppy Roo excelled themselves with the food! You had your party dress on of course!

We then beached with the puppies and it was a Beautiful day! Next week should be very exciting as we are off to Europe with Daddy, Nonna, Poppy Roo and Aunty A!

My tip for you this week is to make sure you read plenty of books in your lifetime – there is nothing better then immersing yourself in a book and physically turning the pages (hopefully books will still be in existence when you read this).

Tiny Camper…

Good Morning Baby Girl,

I hope you are well.

It has been a couple of weeks since my last blog because we have been so busy! Nonna looked after you while Dad and I went to a ball. (You slept the whole time – Nonna was upset as she was looking forward to cuddles).

Lotte 40

Then we had Aunty A come to stay while Dad went to Sydney for work. Aunty A and I bought you some sunglasses and when we put them on you we were not allowed to take them off!

Lotte 41

We also went for swims in the pool which you enjoyed – as long as the sun was not in your eyes!

Lotte 39

When Dad arrived home from Sydney you were very happy to see him and we were then able to start getting ready for our big camping adventure! We head out to Coombadja which is inland from Grafton. We normally go with quite a few families for Easter but this year it was us and Nonna and Poppy Roo. Aunty A had to work so she was not able to come either. We go to this property because Poppy Roo’s friend owns it and Poppy Roo has some Wagyu cattle on the property. It is great for kayaking and swimming as it is on the Mann River. Dad also proposed to me there and said one day he would like to take our children there – and this year we did!

Lotte 35

There is a lot of preparation to go camping but it is definitely worth it! Nonna and Poppy Roo went in their tent so they could help us with all of our gear. It is nice not to have any phone signal and to have to walk to the toilet (hole in the ground) and boil water on the fire etc. It makes you appreciate being able to switch a light on when you are at home! You had a bath in a milk crate (just like I did when i was your age). You enjoyed it even though you like to spread out in the big bath now.

Lotte 33

The weather was not great this time but it was nice to spend some quality time with Nonna, Poppy Roo and Dad without televisions, phones and iPads. You had such a nice time in the fresh air and even fell asleep when we had to pack up a day early – you are such a good girl and loved the bunny Rabbit that you received from Nonna and Poppy Roo for Easter.

We are home now and unpacked and repacking ready to go to America on Thursday! Your first overseas trip! I am nervous for you but I am sure that you will handle the trip with ease and probably have less jet lag then me!

Lotte 38

I have two tips for for you this week. Th first is that you should not wait for Friday, for Summer, for someone to fall in love with you etc. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment that you are in. Don’t waste the time you have my Love.

The other is to treat people as you think they should be, because then you will help them become what they are capable of becoming. I think it is important to try to understand people before judging them.

Mini Me…

Good Morning Baby Girl,

I hope that you are well.

For a while now people ask your Dad and I where you get your strawberry blonde hair from so this week we compared a photo of you at 3 months to a photo of me at 3 months of age and oh my goodness we look similar! Just after birth you looked a lot like Dad but now I think you are turning into Me! Well you can decide for yourself. Here is the pic!

We spent the weekend in Toowoomba with our good friends, Daddy, Poppy Roo and Nonna. We had a lovely time and you slept peacefully in your little makeshift bed. Toowoomba was in fog for the whole weekend but that did not spoil our time on the mountain.

This week we have moved you from the little bath to the BIG bath and my gosh you love it. You kick, giggle, splash and just have the best time ever! It is such a special time for you and Daddy.

We bought you a little seat this week because you love sitting up and being part of everything. You are so happy when you are in the seat and chat the whole time! We then tried you with your first solid food! First attempt was stewed pears. You were disgusted that I would try to feed you something other then milk! And here is the face to prove it.

We then tried stewed mango and banana yesterday and it was more successful. So we will just keep trying little bits and see how you go!

You grab everything now so I have to be careful otherwise things will be knocked over and I will have no hair left because your aim is very good! When you get hold of Tilly’s hair you do not let go!

Yesterday I organised your wardrobe AGAIN. Look at all of your outfits and that is just for the next few weeks! Yesterday you wore socks and mocks (first picture above) – I think it is a fashion trend that will really take off lol.

We had a lovely time with Aunty A on her day off and of course we had to take some selfies. You definitely aren’t camera shy.

Yesterday you also tried a bit of pilates with Rodney’s assistance. I think you enjoyed it but you preferred cuddles with Nonna and Poppy Roo while I did my pilates exercises.

Lotte 36

My tip to you this week is that you should never change who you are just because you are afraid of losing someone. If they really love you, your imperfections won’t matter. Stay strong Baby Girl.

All My Love,

Mum Xxx.

The Little Things…

Lotte 26

Good Morning Baby Girl,

Dad and I hope that you are having a wonderful week!

We had a weekend at Lennox Heads last week because Dad was in Chicago again. And of course we visited your favourite shop, Baby Sesame. Nonna and Poppy Roo can’t believe how good you have become at holding things!

You also had your 4 month vaccinations last week so you were a bit upset after them for a couple of days but you are great now! Aunty A came to stay while Dad was away. It was lovely having her around. Although you might want to ask her about her bathing technique (I think you may have been splashed a few times).

Lotte 27

This week I was thinking about things that I think will be important for you to know in the future. I attended a makeup class on Wednesday night (you stayed home with Dad) and after the class I thought it would have been so good to know the tips and tricks they gave us in the class years ago! Which then got me thinking that I will make sure you have the opportunity to attend something like that so that you know these things early on (whether you use them will be another story!)

Lotte 29

Therefore, when you are ready I will make sure you know how to apply makeup properly and have products that work well with your skin. I also will teach you how to blow dry your hair properly and the other thing will be to make sure you have good quality products to make sure you look after your skin. I am sure there are many more things that I will think about in the coming years but I wanted to list these ones down to start with.

Mum Xxx.

My Little Jet Setter…

Lotte 20
Good Morning Baby Girl,

I hope that you you are well and having a wonderful day.

You had a lot of “firsts” last week which included your first Networking Breakfast at Palazzo Versace. You were on your best behaviour and you received lots of compliments from attendees commenting on what a perfect baby you were. You slept for the entire event!

Last Friday you had your first flight! We went to Sydney with Daddy, Nonna and Poppa Roo and I was a bit nervous for you but I should not have been. You were great! You had a meal on the way up and on the way down and your ears were fine. You were in row 3 (and already have gold status with Virgin) and I think you even surprised the business man in our row because you did not cry! He congratulated you on your first flight when we touched down on the tarmac.

You also attended your first concert “The Eagles” in an open air theatre in the Hunter Valley. You slept through the entire show. There were some surprised looks when people saw you at the Concert but the music was not loud and we had mini earphones for you just in case! The concert was spectacular with the full moon rising in the distance. It felt like we were camping!

Lotte 18

You slept well in your porta-cot and did not complain when Daddy, Nonna and Poppy Roo sampled some of the wines at the wineries (picture below).

The trip home on the plane was non-eventful with you sleeping most of the way! You did also keep daddy occupied for some of the flight by going to the toilet (which appeared to take a lot of effort – your Nonna and I could not stop laughing at your determined little face). Daddy changed you and he told me that it was a bit messy! The air hostess’ were very impressed that Daddy changed your nappy and told me that they do not usually see the Daddy’s doing that. You are a lucky girl to have such a great Dad.

Lotte 22

Aunty A came to visit yesterday. She changed and dressed you and she was so impressed because you now sit and play with her, reach for her hair and chat away to yourself. We took Aunty A shopping to get her some things for Spain. You were a little angel. Falling asleep and then waking up to smile at every shop assistant and receiving compliments along the way. We bought you a few little outfits from Country Road. (We tried on four or five different outfits and you did not complain or cry once – the shop assistants were very surprised – I told them that you are used to a few outfit changes).

You are still sleeping through the night and eating well. You also “grab” and hold a lot more things now so we have to be careful. You put your hand in a bowl of tomato sauce the other night and because I was not expecting it all I could do was laugh! You also push yourself up on your hands now when you are on your tummy.

Lottte 16

My tip for you this week is a quote by Steve Jobs “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” In your lifetime I am sure that you will have several jobs but I think the same philosophy should still apply.

Lots of Love,

Mum Xxx
